I.K. Inha memorial unveiled on the 5th of July

Konrad Into Nyström, or I.K. Inha, was honoured with a permanent memorial in the Toriseva lay-by. The memorial was unveiled on Sunday the 5th of July at 12 o’clock. Speeches were held and coffee was served in the Toriseva cafée.

Maija Myllykangas, the I.K. Inha commemorative year’s coordinator from the Juminkeko Foundation, held a speech in the Toriseva café.


A fourth edition of Inha’s Kalevalan laulumailta (From the Songlands of Kalevala) by the Juminkeko Foundation was published as a part of the celebration. The classic was introduced by professor Pekka Laaksonen, a long-time director of the SKS Folklore Archive.


Kalevalan laulumailta (From the Songlands of Kalevala) was first published in 1911 and another, updated edition in 1921. A third, revised and supplemented edition in 1999. The new Juminkeko edition, published as a part of the celebration on the 5th of July was for sale for a preorder price in the Toriseva café.


Inha’s 150 years anniversary postage stamp designed by the graphic artist Jorma Hinka was also published in the Toriseva café celebration.
